Garage conversion to form an Annex in De Freville Conservation Area of Cambridge
The property is located in a narrow plot between Trafalgar Street and back Lane in the De Freville Conservation Area. It is a Victorian residential suburb of Cambridge, with narrow plots and continues terraces of two storey buff brick cottages with slate roofs, natural stone effect lintels and sash windows. The flat roof garage in poor condition was located at the rear of the property, facing the back Lane. The proposal included alterations to existing garage and small extension to it to form Annex. The proposed footprint of Annex adequately respects the constrains of the site. The existing walls of the garage are kept and insulated from inside. New warm flat roof is constructed to comply with the NHBC standards.
